After taking over the factory from his father, Emil Wedel modernized production and expanded the product portfolio with more chocolate delicacies. The confectionery success of the company was so great that Wedel products started to be counterfeited. Emil Wedel then decided that each chocolate bar would be marked with his signature. Over time, this mark grew so close to the brand that Emil Wedel's signature can still be found on Wedel products to this day.
